San Pedro Alcantara

The traditional Spanish town of San Pedro Alcantara is just 15 minutes along the coast from Marbella and offers fantastic views of the Sierra de Ronda Mountains.

Why move to San Pedro Alcantara?

San Pedro Alcantara offers the perfect Andalusian atmosphere, beautiful views and excellent foods and drinks.

Just 15 minutes along the coast from Marbella is San Pedro Alcantara, a traditional Spanish town with fantastic views of the Sierra de Ronda Mountains. The history of the town dates back to the end of the 18th century, when it was an agricultural community specializing in sugar cane production.

The city is divided into two distinct parts: the old town and newer residential development near the beach. The old town has an amazing Andalusian atmosphere. Head to its beating heart, Plaza de la Iglesia, home to a beautiful church surrounded by narrow streets. Walk the surrounding streets and discover some interesting independent local shops. If you feel hungry, you can taste delicious tapas in one of the many restaurants and bars in town.

You are a short walk from the beach where you can find a large selection of restaurants along its palm promenade. There are plenty of charming chiringuitos beach bars as well. The area's fertile agricultural heritage means that a lot of delicious local produce gets into all the cuisine, not to mention an excellent fish from the Mediterranean Sea.

The area is popular with British foreigners, but most of the population is Spanish. The area is busier in summer and many people visit it during school holidays.

From modern villas and stylish apartments to terraced houses and commercial real estate, there is a wide range of properties.

Public facilities

There are plenty of shops in town, including a number of budget supermarkets and a weekly local open-air market. There are plenty of local bars and restaurants in the centre of the old town and on the beach. There are also a number of sports facilities, including San Pedro Sports Center and Cable Ski Marbella, a popular water sports center on the outskirts of town.

San Pedro Alcantara is close to 2 airports; Malaga Airport is about 45 minutes away and Gibraltar Airport is about 50 minutes away. By car you can be in Puerto Banus in about 10 minutes.

This is a good part of Spain for English speaking applicants. Most opportunities are in tourism, retail and technology.

Public health

There are several Spanish state health centers in the area, plus the English-speaking private Triay Medical Center near Laude San Pedro International College. Dentists, pediatricians, and pharmacies are also available.

There is Laude San Pedro International College for English curriculars providing British education for students from 2 to 18 years old.

Cost of living

The cost of living is low, food, drinks, and shopping are cheaper than in nearby Marbella.
